How to shave your butt?

How to shave your butt?

In this guide, you'll learn how to shave your butt the safe and easy way.

Why or why not remove butt hair?

In the realm of men's grooming, it's entirely common to find hair on your buttocks and around the anus. This natural occurrence, although serving a purpose—namely, reducing friction, preventing chafing, and maintaining proper ventilation and dryness—may not always align with your comfort preferences. More butt hair often translates to more sweat, which can be quite bothersome for many. And let's not even dive into the topic of dingleberries, those little surprises we'd rather do without.

But for many gay men, removing butt hair is about so much more than mere physical comfort. It's a confidence booster, a path to feeling more self-assured both in and out of the bedroom. So, whether you're contemplating butt hair removal for reasons of personal comfort, confidence, or both, one thing remains paramount—proper preparation and the right tools are your butt’s best friend.

Hair removal options

When it comes to removing butt hair, there are plenty of options. Let's dive into a few:

  • Traditional Razors: While they might seem like the obvious choice, using a regular razor in sensitive areas like your butt can be risky business. The threat of cuts and nicks is no laughing matter. Plus, the contortion act you have to perform to reach down there without feeling like you're about to break your back? Not exactly a walk in the park.
  • Hair Removal Creams: These products offer an alternative, but be warned—using them around those areas isn't ideal. The aftermath can leave your derriere with an unpleasant odour, and you run the risk of burns, irritation, or even an allergic reaction. Not exactly the dreamy smoothness you were hoping for.
  • Trimmers: Trimmers provide a safer option, but they often fall short when it comes to achieving that close shave. They can also be a bit tricky to manoeuver in hard-to-reach spots. However, if ingrown hairs are your arch-nemesis, trimmers might be worth considering.
  • Bumzzy Butt Shaver: If you're after that razor-cut finish without the bathroom acrobatics, look no further. Our specially designed butt shaver acts as an extension of your hand, simplifying the process and making it a breeze to reach all those nooks and crannies with ease. It seamlessly follows the unique contours of your bum and trims the hair at skin level, delivering that smooth, razor-cut finish without any pesky cuts, nicks, or missed spots.

Step 1: Trim the area if the hair is too long

It's time to venture into the interiors. If the hair on your butt is long, you will need to trim it down so you can effectively use your Bumzzy shaver. We recommend only using it on hair with a maximum length of 4mm. For hair longer than 4mm, we advise trimming the hair to a shorter length first and only then, strike the shaver.

Step 2: Take a warm shower and exfoliate the area

We suggest starting with a warm shower and exfoliating the target area. The heat from the water will help to relax the hair and open up the pores and hair follicles, facilitating a smoother shave and minimising the chances of ingrown hairs.

Exfoliating before shaving is beneficial as it can eliminate any trapped dirt and bacteria in the hair follicles, which might lead to irritation if left untouched. This process ensures that any lingering debris is effectively removed, while also eliminating excess surface oil that could hinder achieving a flawless shave. We recommend  ManCave Blackspice Body Scrub

Step 3: Apply shaving gel or cream

It's totally possible to just dry shave, but we do recommend using a foam or gel to prevent any irritation from happening. Spread it thoroughly, giving your preference to one made for sensitive skin.

    Step 4: Cheeks go first

Give your cheeks first priority, start with shaving them first! Simply slide the hand over the blade unit for the best grip. Glide the trimmer over the cheeks in smooth, controlled movements with light pressure. Repeat the motion until your desired result is achieved. Just two things: keep rinsing the blades frequently and don't apply too much pressure.

Step 5: Time to crack it open

Shaving between the cheeks used to be the trickiest part, as it's the hardest to see. Thankfully, we have simplified this process. Simply hold the shaver as if it's an extension of your hand. Lift one cheek and smoothly guide the shaver's blades around the area near the anus. You can now confidently navigate without the fear of accidental cuts, even without precise visibility.

Step 6: Rinse, dry off, and apply antiseptic

Once completed and satisfied with the results, rinse away any excess shave gel and stray hairs with cold water. Consider using a mild, non-irritating body wash such as CLn SportWash. To dry off, use a fresh, clean towel to prevent introducing bacteria to your skin.

Our shavers are proven to be the best for sensitive skin since they provide a gentle shave while minimising skin irritation. While the shaver plays a primary role, we still recommend using aftershave gel, balm, lotion, or cooling moisturisers to keep your shaved peach smooth. One of our top picks is the Evagloss razor bump solution.

Tip: don't wear any tight clothing after shaving to prevent any irritation.

    Step 7: Apply body powder

After you've successfully removed all the hair from your buttocks, the absence of hair means that the area may not ventilate as efficiently as before. To counter this, invest in a quality body powder that will help maintain the dryness and smoothness of your skin. Check out the Jack Black Dry Down Friction-Free Body Powder.

    Step 8: Clean the blades

While your bum requires appropriate care before and after shaving, it's equally important to maintain the shaver itself. To do this, follow these steps: gently open each of the blades, rinse them thoroughly, and clean the blades with rubbing alcohol to eliminate any bacteria. Afterward, allow them to air dry. Consistent cleaning not only ensures the shaver's blades remain sharp but also prolongs their lifespan and reduces wear and tear on the motor. Please remember not to submerge the shaver, as it can only withstand high-pressure water and heavy sprays.

We promise that butt hair is perfectly normal. At the end of the day, you might not even want to shave your bum. And that’s absolutely fine. No one can judge you for your butt hairstyle.
